Inner Metrics

How can you know if your mental fitness is increasing? Here are a few areas where you’ll notice a change:

Recognize

  • What percentage of the day are you meta-aware? (i.e., observing your mind)

  • What’s your ratio of internal bliss to external pleasure-seeking?

  • What’s your average energy level throughout the day?

Release

  • Are your unfit traits (e.g., agitation and anger) loosening?

  • Do you observe mental cause-and-effect in your direct experience?

  • Does your body generally feel relaxed during the day?

Relish

  • Are your fit traits (e.g., compassion and patience) growing?

  • Can you feel good vibes (i.e., metta), even toward difficult individuals?

  • Do you help and connect with others?

Remain

  • Do you have virtue—doing your best to follow your conscience?

  • How long can you remain in a fit state (i.e., the longest period before a distraction)?

  • Do you remain composed despite unexpected or adverse events?

Though there will be short-term ups and downs, chart any of the above areas to watch your mental fitness improve over time. You can record these metrics every week. Please enter your email below for a free mental fitness tracker sheet.
